
To structure is to join together parts into a whole. The parts have distinct relationships with each other which maintain the whole as an identifiable entity or arrangement. To change a structure is a feat.
How do edges, ripples, cracks, and legends relate to structure? By their nature do they want to break free of an imposed composition? How do they contribute to the changing of structures?
Architecture is built to support the weight of people, objects and itself while withstanding gravity, erosion, and earthquakes. Buildings are the ultimate structures; these words have become synonymous.
The colonnade is monumental, yet it serves no purpose as a literal structure. Why is it here? By pretending to be a structure what does it want to be or what do we what it to be?

Its imposing form all along the open plaza demands attention; its design derives from the ancient European empire and filters through modernism as a fascist-style. It denotes ruthless power.

But when we asked people who spend lots of time at the spectacles of PDA to share their thoughts about this structure, their minds go blank- what colonnade?
This paradox makes the colonnade exciting and edgy. Because in all its grandeur it is forgotten. Because we get to ask questions about what is a structure.
When you enter the skeletal frame you become almost invisible (except to the security cameras). The thrill of the liminal where fantasy takes over is possible. We went to explore and got lost and needed to make maps to structure our journey.
